This nurse and her friend only look slightly amused by these soldiers. I just realized a soldier’s game was really limited. He might be able to buy the girl a beer, and he probably had a tan and an attractive uniform, but so did everyone else. He didn’t have a car, or a civilian career to brag about, or even a hometown scene to show off to the girl. Or even a great deal of time.
Nope. Soldiers had to rely on charm, good looks, dancing abilities, and resourcefulness to land a girl during wartime. Just as in war, you had to show up with your best game to survive.
